In praise of water - in the yard and at the Y
AQUAROBICS
Ten thirty and the pool fills
With buoyant
White haired women
Burdened with big bellies,
Respectably flabby arms and
Heavy, sagging breasts
Or maybe just one
Shriven by decades of scouring
No longer needing redemption
Beyond libidinous lunacy
Passions harmlessly absorbed by
Grand children and gardening
Songs sung in close harmony
Resonate over the water
Along with girlish giggles
While quiet murmurs
Ponder prescriptions
And consider caterers
These unsinkable sirens
Joke about death while
Languidly backstroking
Into fleeting futures
