Dreadful Drill Instructors

Here is Forest with the Drill Instructors who hammered, yelled, threatened and otherwise "formed" him during boot camp.

Forest introduced us to them as his Father, his Grandmother and his Nana. Huh? Does a Marine still have Nana? What a relief!

So so photo of nine birds

Finches, nuthatches, woodpeckers, chickadees and others are eating for what comes next. Whether it's a a 2,000 mile flight or a cold winter, they need to eat.

I haven't seen a hummingbird in a few days, but I keep looking. Flowers are still blooming, so they are probably around.

The other two Bothersend pack members

Zorba, the Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle Mix) and little black Miklos (Yorkie/Peedle Mix), resting in the shade wondering what the heck I'm doing!

They're my Soul Mutts.

Hell's Kitchen, Paris in the 1890s

I found this picture in the National Geographic Archives, and have never erased it. I think I may be the reincarnation of the second prostitute on the left

The Man In the Moon

This world weary Moon, dressed in cloth cut from the firmament, is giving us a sly wink and an Aok to sleep tight. Notice how he is clasping his bottle of Moon Shine!

He did get a ribbon at the State Fair in the 8 inch or less character doll category.

New head in the littlest room in the house

After stripping about seven layers of moldering corruption off the walls of this 58 year old room, we were able to get down to the basic blox. The original head was agonizingly difficult to remove, but surprisingly, the chartreuse one went RIGHT in.

Now for shower improvements!

Stay tuned to this slow, but fascinating story of mind over matter!

In praise of water - in the yard and at the Y

AQUAROBICS

Ten thirty and the pool fills
With buoyant
White haired women
Burdened with big bellies,
Respectably flabby arms and
Heavy, sagging breasts

Or maybe just one

Shriven by decades of scouring
No longer needing redemption
Beyond libidinous lunacy
Passions harmlessly absorbed by
Grand children and gardening

Songs sung in close harmony
Resonate over the water
Along with girlish giggles
While quiet murmurs
Ponder prescriptions
And consider caterers

These unsinkable sirens
Joke about death while
Languidly backstroking
Into fleeting futures

The last burst of color in Luna Park

Our rustic arbor is glowing with glories.

Marine Boot Camp Graduation

This is a guy who has lost 40 pounds and can now run for five miles and ENJOY it!

Forest's High School Graduation Photo

Here he is at age 18 - a little plump and glowing with health

Forest Decides to join the marines

Minnesota liberals supporting Forest, while fully realizing that fighting for peace is like fornicating (ahem) for virginity.
